Inglourious Basterds
Inglourious Basterds is the 7th film by director Quentin Tarantino. Released in 2009, it is a commercial and critical success. The story takes place during the Second World War and tells the implementation of 2 parallel actions to end the Third Reich.
Synopsis
In 1941, in occupied France, an SS colonel and his men are looking for Jews in a family farm. Colonel Landa manages to get the head of the family to admit that he is hiding Jews under his floor. He then orders his soldiers to shoot through the floor, killing everyone below. One girl, Shoshanna, manages to escape. At the same time, American Lieutenant Aldo Raine assembles a team of soldiers to go to France to scare the Nazis by scalping and killing them. Later we meet Shoshanna, manager of a Parisian cinema, under an assumed name. She learns that her cinema will host the premiere of a propaganda film and that many Nazi leaders will be present. She will take advantage of this opportunity to avenge her family. Her goal is to add a sequence to the film, a message of revenge, and then to burn the theater, with the Nazis locked inside.
The cinema on fire
Meanwhile, Aldo Raine and his soldiers are assigned to attack the premiere of the film. They plan to blend in with the guests and blow up the theater, using ankle explosives. Both missions are completed with many twists and turns.
Success
The success of this film lies in the direction and dialogue, typical of Tarantino, causing moments of unbearable suspense. The film has received numerous awards, including eight Oscars (including "Best Picture", "Best Director" and "Best Screenplay"). The actor Christoph Waltz won the Oscar for best actor for his role of Colonel Landa. Indeed, he is one of the key characters of the film. His mastered charisma and his continuous sadism make him one of the most cult villains in cinema.

Recommendation
Inglourious Basterds is in my opinion, as it is for many, one of Tarantino's best films. It is one of the must-see films and will certainly have marked the beginning of the 2000s. I also recommend other films by the same director, also great success of cinema.
